this thread is like an AA meeting ......
My name is dennis and I too solo my adventures .......
I did a 20 day solo kayak trip up the texas coast,
and being solo sure brings out a whole different experience.
Sometimes me, myself and I was just too much in one boat!
but I usually do stuff solo because like many of you,
it's just like pulling teeth out of an alligator
to get someone to go out and do stuff with you.
Now I hit the button on my spot tracker and I'm outta here!
I don't even bother to say I'm going .....
spot will send out an email saying i left,
then i hit another button when I stop for the night or make it home.

i hiked 6 days to the NOC in January and didn't see a sole. there was snow and i lost my gloves at Neel Gap so i was wearing socks for gloves. about four days in i'm juggling 3 snowballs with my sock puppets and just started laughing as they caught them in their mouth and threw them back up. being alone too long for somebody that just ain't right, ain't too good. LOL

Like many have already said, I mostly hike alone on day trips.
I've done a few overnighters but weird things happen like whirlwind and burning bushes blocking my path. Another time Big Foot rolled boulders down the mountain all night.

Hello... My name is Robby and I'm a solo-holic too... JK!
I have been solo cave diving for many years and lots of solo kayaking.
I used to enjoy solo backpacking and did lots of trips by myself. I got bit by a rattlesnake in 2000 in an AT shelter while solo hiking. Since I am now married and have a son I do more things with the family.
Cheers,
I like to wander alone , I can listen to what nature is trying to tell me that way. I like to take solo yak trips and road trips also. It helps clear the mind and soul.
Don't get me wrong, if they "Get it" I also enjoy the company of others too ... Sharing a good hike, setting up gear and breaking bread on the trail is one of life's simple joys if they are in sync with the journey.
Pretty much I'm hiking with Running Feather. I enjoy the joking and company of a like minded person.
We're both self-employed, so it enables us to coordinate our schedules so we can take off during mid-week, and avoid the weekend traffic.
Plus with a medical background, he might come in handy one day!!

I tend to go it alone too, I do enjoy the company of other hikers though especially in camp.
I have done most of my hiking alone, or recently with my daughter the Ewok, or my wife, for short hikes. When I really need nature, I saddle-up and head out by myself. Being an old Recon Rat in Nam I am always aware of how much noise people make when they wander the woods.
I have taught the Ewok how to walk silently, see widely, and breath with the woods. Have also taught her to see all the food we walk right by out there!
When I get out alone I feel the safest, and travel as a ghost might. I have walked right up on deer, almost close enough to touch 'em.
Blending into the environment, becoming one of the natural creatures there for a while, always recharges me.
Group hangs (camping) are a load of fun. But I enjoy solo hiking.
