The other day I was sewing up a bugnet out of Tulle. That stuff is pretty hard to work with. Very hard to see if the two pieces are lined up or not. Anyway as I'm feeding the material my left index finger gets in the way.
Yep, the needle went right through. Now my finger is impaled, needle bent and I have to manually back it out. Wasn't having a good day.
It happens to the best at times. You're not the first and you won't be the last. It can also happen with many other kinds of fabrics. The professional stitchers are simply told.. "Don't bleed on the merchandise."

I guess you ned a stronger needle... or armor for your fingers... hope it doesn't hurt too bad...
I've found tulle to be so darn fragile, that I switched to Organza. I bought a bunch of cheap, white stuff and camo-pattern it with some black spray dye.
I zigzag stitch it together, it bunches just a bit, but makes a strong seam.

Using an awl to guide/hold the fabric as it moves through the machine will help prevent injuries. If the needle hits anything it will be the awl and not your finger.
