    My first top quilt!

Finally! It took me many hours of reading, thinking, measuring, thinking, measuring, thinking, looking for the "shiny" side , cutting, stuffing, etc. etc. but my top quilt is finally done!

Thank you all for the encouragement and the valuable advice. I followed these instructions: http://lytw8.com/uploads/LytW8_Summe...structions.pdf
as suggested by a member on another thread I had started. Thank you for that suggestion, it helped tremendously! I would also like to thank Fronkey for the down stuffing video. Much appreciated man!

Now its not perfect, my cuts were slightly off so I compensated and made everything even with the hemming. I was also met with a curve ball so to speak when my cat walked on my rip stop nylon and stretched while sticking his claws out. I GASPED and after saying "okay okay" about a thousand times I realized LUCKILY his claw marks were on the edge near my tapered end. So I had to re-cut an area and compensate for it.

But GOD I love this thing!

For anyone thinking about taking the dive and making their own gear, DO IT! It is easier than it sounds. Take your time and think everything out. Its not that making this top quilt was difficult, it was just time consuming. I started sewing only a month or two ago. You are certainly capable, believe!!!

    Pictures soon to follow.

Very nice. If the cat every nails one in the middle, a dab of silicone or sewn patch should fix it....................on the quilt......................not the cat.

    Thanks a lot folks!

A dab of silicone is good to know. I will note that in the future if it ever happens again.

The material I used was: http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/p...hable-fabrics/

The 1.1 rip stop seconds in calendared Olive Green.

I used 6 ounces of wilderness logics down for about 1.5 - 2 inches of loft. Should be good for 40 for me.

For the foot box channel I used shock cord, but I want to bump the size up because I think the shock chord is a bit thin. I have the thicker stuff but am out of cord locks. I am about to search my house for some

I opted to not use omni tape because I see on my other Speer 20 degree tq has very minor evidence of abrasion. I plan on using the tie outs that are on a poncho liner that I can easily tie up.
