    Texas Fall Group Hang 2009

Ok, I reckon I will be the first to post up, everyone else is probably still on the road.

I , well my " Posse" had a wonderful time..... I really enjoyed meeting everyone and can't wait to to this again.

In bewteen diapers and baby wipes, I was able to get some Dutch Oven cooking done.....
    Greetings from Texas

Old fashion beans and "salt pork" on the fire

    and my official pie taster

And no Doll Houses on this trip......
My Princess taking over the M1966

Friday night was to cold for the kids so we slept on the gear trailer but Saturday night we squeezed in to the Expedition,,, after all the "she's touching me" ,,,, and "scooch over" they finaly fell asleep.

Before we broke camp Sunday morning we went down to the lake for some "Rock Skipping" lessons...

Thanks again everyone we had a great time....

Well we just got home from the Texas Hanging, and all I can say is WOW.New friendships were made, finally able to put names to faces, the food was excellent, and the gear was out of this world.
It was our first time to sleep in the HH's and it was great other than fighting with the sleeping pads, but we'll get it worked out. We had an excellent time, and even got a lesson on making Whoopee Slings. Old Gringo made the trip from OK.
All I can say is if you live in Texas, and are reading this you missed a great time and don't be shy next time. You are more than always welcome to a Texas Hanging, no necks swinging, just hammocks.
Look forward to seeing everyone again.

I figure it will be quicker to just post the link to our pictures

    great pics.

looks like great food too. love cooking over a campfire. Just bought a 4qt dutch oven a few weeks ago and have been getting it seasoned. Can't wait to try it out.

Great pictures folks. Thank you for putting them up.

One of my fears in my late teens and early twenties was for someone to tell me, "Boy you shoulda oughtta been there last night." Well, for the folks who were not able to make it to the Texas Hang...

We had such a good time that I expect that there will be another opportunity in the not too distant future.

I am amazed by the way such an eclectic group of folks from completely different places both geographically and in life could come together and have such a good time based on a common bond of love of outdoors and distaste for sleeping on the ground. (We also like to look at cool stuff that we now need to add to our own gear closets.)

We saw a lot of different gear, burned several trees, and had many wonderful conversations. Everyone was able to contribute to the success of the event and I think we all learned something.

I believe some great friendships have been kindled and that there will be many more trip reports in the future.

I also believe that it is a good thing that we take the load bearing of our suspension systems so seriously, me especially after all I had to eat on the Saturday night pot luck dinner.

    I had a great time.

Hey everybody! I'm about to head out of the door to the airport to fly to WV. We rolled in about 8 pm last night. We hung out with Split and played with his Kelly Kettle for a few hours after everyone else had left. We really didn't want the weekend to end.

It was absolutely awesome meeting all of you! We had a great time, and thanks to everyone for the food, conversations and fun! You are all a fantastic group of people. I hope to do this again soon!
