Big thanks to UncleMJM and Alan for putting the weekend together.
Pam and I had a GREAT time meeting new friends and gawking at all that gear. WOW!
Here's some photos...
Can't wait for the next hang!

Our gang had a great time too.
It's amazing that over 40 hangers from TX, OK, LA, and FL all from very different worlds but with one common bond of hanging in trees could have such a great time together. In spite of the rain and mid-thirties, we had a fantastic time!
Nothing like campfire fellowship, gear show and tell, and enough food to blow any diet.
Where I am from if we do it once it's an event. Do it twice, then we are call it a tradition.
Want the tradition to continue? If so, mark your calendars for November 11-13, 2011.
Now, in the meantime, let's get together again sooner.
I've got a few minutes to post some quick highlights...
It was so great to see old friends from the 2009 hang and even better to meet so many new people. We had 40 people in attendance at the hang this year. Wow!
Swedish candle - Pimptastic!
"I love the smell of Amsteel in the morning." (RAT)
E-Z UP canopies = Life savers during the passing storms.
Saturday breakfast = Yummy!
Saturday night pot-luck dinner = I'm still licking my titanium pot clean!
Mark and Pam's T@B trailer = Makin' honey!
Possum's Montana story = Legendary!
Jack = Thank you for introducing me to more authors.
Cogneato = Safe journey, dude!
Sandpiper = When can I place my order??? No...seriously...when??? I'll give you my credit card number. Just bill me! (Thank you for the gift! )
So many memories! More later...
(Do I need to pass out awards again???)
I believe UncleMJM was able to recoup the cost of the site reservations, the grocery bill for the breakfast Saturday morning, and the Amsteel order. Thanks to each of you for your generosity!
Can't wait until 2011!
You know you want to pass out awards and we'd all like your take on them so go for it.
One more thanks for eveyone's generosity. It's always nice to be able to pay the bills and the amount collected hit it right on the nose. (Thanks Alan for keeping the books. All I did was spend money and have fun.)
While I'm passing out "thank you's" I sure want to remember EastTexasHanger for the great cedar name tags - way to avert an identity crisis; Old Gringo for bringing the trailer of wood for KerMegan to burn, (along with the wood from the barn Shane must have torn down and wood brought by several others too); all the folks who helped add to my waist line with the food at the Saturday night pot luck; all the photographers sharing their great pics in this report; and everyone who participated in showing off their newly purchased or DIY gear!
Well I finally made it home, I know, I know I live closer than anyone else, but do you
realize how much piney woods there are between Fairfield and my house. I just needed one
more night...
So Here's my Trip Report on the TEXAS HANG BY EastTexasHanger aka slowsmoke
The words from one of our favorite HF Forums members best sums it up for me...
WHOOOOO BUDDY
First a Big Texas Thanks to UncleMJM an Alan for all the work putting this hang together.
Old Gringo for the firewood and KerMeagan for making the wood last all weekend.
Myself being a solo guy/ semi-hermit, and my first group hang, and with 40 or more people was a
lot different than I'm use to,but everyone was great that I talked to, Fantastic FOOD,
Awesome Gear and Info. Oh and did I mention the FOOOD!!
Alrighty then down to the good stuff, Where else but in TEXAS can you sit around campfire
and get to see a RAT and a Possum in a debate about a utili-skirt. I think this may still
be going on. Rat also Has a knife that would make Jim Bowie turn green with envy, and Rats
young son has knife skills too, this young man baton wood and made some pro quality roasting
sticks. He can also eat his wieght in marshmallows I believe..
Then there were the DIYers, I was so amazed at their skills that I forgot about my own stuff
to show ,maybe next year.
The GEAR JUNKIES.. what can I say, from MollyMac Pack to the TEAR
DROP TRAILER and all in between so much gear so little time.
I believe everyone there left with some kind of wish list of gear that they wanted to build
or buy, but one person, and this person has the" Cogneato Scroll" Cogneato is an awesome
young man. He's like a sponge any info or tips he soaks up and uses it wisely, you can tell
by his choices of gear hes got or getting. I hope he wins the lottery he's going to need it
We also had an 07 AT Thru-Hiker with some great photos and stories thanks "gimpy" So much more but thats enough for now... So where we going this weekend LOL .
I am so lucky to have joined the forum in time to meet such a great group of people. This was my first hanging event, group or otherwise and I had a blast. Thanks to all for the campfire fun and conversation. Can't wait til next year.
This was a great change of pace for me, a frequent solo camper. This was like camping with 40 stand up comedians!
And we found out that if you give Sandpiper $10 and send her to Walmart, she can amaze you by whipping up professional looking hammock accessories!
Downloading and sorting pictures so I can mass post them to be linked in. Great time all.
Ok working on getting them onto the other site now.
