New BB & Superfly User with a Few ?'s

Just got my WB with adjustable webbing. I have a few extra carabiners so I'm ready to hang right?

Next, superfly tarp with doors (new style). What's a popular item to purchase for the ridge line? I was thinking about picking up the Single Line Tarp Ridge Line from whoopieslings.

What's the difference between a guyline and a ridge line?

Once I have my tarp mounted over/under a ridge line what's a popular method for tightening the corners of the tarp to the ground? Do I just get some stakes and some shock cord?

Am I missing any critical pieces to this whole process?

Yes, you're ready to hang.

Guylines are typically what folks call the lines that run from tarp corner to the ground. Since I don't use a full ridgeline on my tarps, I also call the lines going from tarp to tree guylines although I'm sure that's not technically correct.

Shockcord is great to incorporate into your tieouts (guylines) to help take up the slack that will develop overnight as the sil stretches. There are some using shockcord only from tarp to ground, but that's too much like a slingshot with a stake IMO. A bit heavier too!

I've heard nothing but good things about the SLTRs from whoopieslings, just never really had the need for a ridgeline under, or over, my tarp.

Congrats on the new gear!! I am a paracord freak so I use it for everything..
There are much better options out there, when it comes down to it, it is just personal preference.. That is why they call it fun right??

I use a 2.2mm dynaglide arborists throw line, in dayglo orange

for shorter distances, i go around the stake, back to the tarp, through the triangle, this creates a 3:1, i tighten the desired amount, do 3-4 wraps, and tie off with a single slipped half hitch. y stakes also have a little self locking hitch you can use on them (see superfly setup video in the setup section of my website)

if you use shockcord (i don't) be sure to tighten till there is no stretch left in it (till it becomes static) you want your tarp tight to perform it's best, this takes a decent amount of tension top achieve.
