so i just tried the 1way with 3 sliders as that is the only way to have 1 long zip that can separate and still have 2 sliders meet in the center, but i can't get all 3 sliders to slide onto the start of the zip (not sure what that part is called) once it is unzipped. the 3 sliders is the way to go for a long non-sep zip that will open at one and and in the middle (like one of the 2QZQ mods, which are awesome)

So looks like a long 2way or 4 2way is the only way to do this unless you are ok with a 1 slider 1way that you have to zip all the way to the end each time (i'm not) even the long 2way requires the sliders to be all the way up at the ends when it is closed. The 4 2ways, or 2 2way on 1side and a long 1way on the other that is just there to let you take the net/cover off is the only way to do it and still have sliders meet in the middle for easy entry/exit.

ok, i stand corrected. i was thinking the sliders close towards eachother on a 2 way, but they close away from eachother. that's not ideal, i'd want the zippers oriented like on the BB, closing toward eachother. i wonder if you can have them made like that. that would require that little cube/slot thing on both ends, and then it couldn't be shortened.

i suppose for a hammock not much difference between a one way and a 2 way then, you'd have to zip all the way to the end of the hammock for entry, exit, venting, to reach out and grab something etc.... not ideal, but workable

yeah, the only way to have zips in the center is with 2 sep zips, but i now realize they could be 2 1way zips instead of 2 2way

your idea of a zipper that opened on each end would be perfect as the sliders would meet in the middle but like you said it would have to both be custom made and me made to the exact length needed as it couldn't be adjusted in length. really if a zip like that existed it would be spot on perfect for this application.

    that's another option i hadn't thought of

seems like it should be possible for them to make something like that, but maybe not since i've never seen one, but seems like if they can put those box slot things on one end why couldn't they be installed on both? who knows

I took the crimped on end off a zipper once and added it to the other end making a custom DIY 2 way removable zipper. It worked until the epoxy gave out and the crimped piece split open and fell off. I think if I could find the right zipper I could make it work.

i think the 2 zippers system is good enough to be worth a try, it is cheaper than custom, no min to buy and will weigh the same anyway so no reason as long as you can seal the gap. You could still use 1 long zip on the non-entry side

Now all i have is a zipper with some of the teeth removed and remnants of epoxy. However I took a dremel and removed the teeth, Then from the same make and model zipper I carefully pulled off the crimped on piece. I put it on it's new home with epoxy but uncrimping it and recrimping it was too much for the flimsy metal. I would think that you should be able to buy uncrimped end from some zipper company somewhere. Crimping them on would be a breeze.

    While we're on the subject...

I've been doing the three zipper per side method, so that you can open anywhere in the middle with two zips like most any zippered hammock, but also slide all three zips to one end to open up the hammock fully, and just stuff the netting in a sack at one end. It's not fully removable in that sense, but effectively so.

Is there an easy way to install that third zipper? I'm having to put it on backwards, which is really difficult. Am I doing it wrong? Is there some device that makes this a snap?
