i have been able to put a slider on backwards also, but it doesn't seem like it would be viable for production (sometimes it fits on backwards and sometimes it doesn't, and when it does, it's a real pain to get it on there). i did this to get 4 zippers on (2 pairs that each close toward oneanother)

At the least, it's good to hear that it's not just me who has a hard time with it. I use a thin metal rod to try to separate the coil as I trying to slide the zipper on backwards... and like you said - sometimes it works ok (after a while), but sometimes not.

The folks over at YKK weren't very helpful, but I don't think they really understood what I was trying to accomplish - even with the diagram.

I would think that you should be able to buy uncrimped end from some zipper company somewhere. Crimping them on would be a breeze.
OWF and others sell the stops separately (look near the bottom of the linked page). They're cheap at 9-10 cents each; but you have to buy enough other stuff to justify the shipping and order minimums.

Near the bottom, look for the section with the heading Top and Bottom Stop: Black. They've got various styles and sizes available.

    Omni Tape and zipper?

After reading older posts on bug netting, and some of the issues, I wonder if anybody has tried this. What about Omni Tape around most of the hammock and netting, but a zipper in the area to get in and out? Would that take care of the noisy exit and entry during the night, and maybe even the durability of the Omni, if it was only used for initial setup, and not for getting in and out?
