Patching a small tear in my WBBB

Okay so last weekend I got the zipper caught in the material above the zipper just under the bugnet, Say mid way along the hammock.

I ripped the material but only a tiny amount and it has maybe a 1/8'' hole and some thread damage.

Only reason it got caught was because it was loose fabric hanging down a bit over the zipper. It's not anywhere that is under tension etc like the bottom etc. I was zipping up in a rush as I had just done the crazy camp run trying to loose a pack of angry mozzies......Didn't want any unwanted "guests" with me under the bug net....

What should I do and what's the best way to fix it up so it doesn't get any worse. (I don't actually think it would though due to minimal load and I'll be more careful in future)

My hammock is a coyote brown 1.0 double WBBB.

Ask Brandon to send you some material or have him patch it for you. I've got a Warbonnet Hammock from 2007 that was patched. I proceeded to put another 2,000+ miles on it and it's still going strong.

That's just the issue.

I'm in Australai and it's not that economical to send it back.

I was hoping someone would have a picture or instruction on the best way to fix it locally.

My wifes Nan can do it that way on the machine...I meant thread injector

as small as it is and as it's in a non-load bearing spot, you might watch it to see if it frays, if it doesn't, don't worry about it, if it does begin to fray, you could smear a dab of silicone on the area (maybe the size of small coin), that should stop it from fraying

A dab of seam sealer maybe? I've done this on small holes before. (I guess this is what Brandon just suggested)

Here I am thinking a sewn patch but yes, now I think about it silicom would work fine.

Would an automotive clear silicone work, I have some at home.
I don't have any seam sealer but would buy some if needed.

I'm guessing silicone is silicone, Coorect me if I'm wrong.

Sail tape would fix it. The tape they use to repair sails on boats. It is clear, flexible and sticks forever. Handy stuff to have around for tarp or jacket tears too.

If you really needed to seal it with material, use stuff that's like what the hammock is made from, thin ripstop. I've had to seal ripstop material before and what I did was to sew a small patch around the damaged spot. I didn't worry about which way I was sewing and went around and then back and forth through the hole. When I was done I trimed off the patch near the stitching then I put clear silicone on both sides of the patch, making sure I covered all the stitching lines and the frayed hole and the edges of the patch. I then used a paper towel to wipe up any excess silicone and allowed it to dry for about 24 hours before packing it back up. I used outdoor window and door chaulking from Lowes Home Improvement store in clear 100% silicone and did not dilute it. One of my patches was to small for me to keep it in place while I sewed it so I dabed on a spot of the silicone to the patch and stuck it where I needed it. I then waited till the next day to sew that one.
My patches aren't pretty but they don't leak either. These were on my big tarp and near the ridgeline.

i would get a small square of ripstop....sew that on like a patch and put some seam sealer on it to stop it from fraying

but just seam sealer should work fine like others have said

This is a very helpful thread. I have a couple small holes on an older Kelty Noah tarp that need repair. Silicone or seam sealer sounds like a good fix. Also, I put a piece of Tear Aid tape over the larger hole. I've used Tear Aid on a dry bag puncture and it's holding great.
