What is the most compact UI

I will carry a short CF pad for my legs.

Thinking about 35 dF or so

    Most compact
    Lightest

    without breaking the bank.

Don't want to use this for my main kit for extended hiking, I just want a small kit I can leave packed and throw in my car etc so I dont want to use a down or climasheild UQ for that.

I am thinking something like a thermarest prolite small. I used to have one for ground sleeping and it compresses very small rolled.

I could always supplement it with my poncho underneath garlington fashion stuffed with cloths leaves or whatever.

As far as compact and light try one of the MMG IX UQ or a DIY version. The don't really compres but are about the same size as a compress down UQ. They are also cheaper than their down/climashield counterparts. People have taken the 2 layer ones to those ranges, for example Rat and his wife took the universal IX UQ to sub 33 during the TX fall hang with just an added poncho liner. Most seem to get mid 30s-low 40s comfortably if it seals around them properly and they are working to make it so it always does for everyone.

Either the MMG 3/4 IX UQ or the IX Universal will fit the bill but 35° is pretty close to needing added insulation for most. As tbctx said, we used poncho liners to get to 33° and it was nice and warm. This is a low(er) price option but I am afraid a compressible, light, 35° and CHEAP underquilt just doesn't exist unless you build it yourself.

    Compressible
    Cheap
    Light

Pick any of the two, but you can't have all three.
