Just made my first diy gathered end hammock. A double layer 1.1 camo ripstop, 56" by 123" with diy whoopies and an adjustable ridgeline. (7/64 amsteel). I like it. Slept out in it last weekend. (I am 6'0" and 160 pounds).
My son-in-law saw it and wants one for himself. He is 6'4" and 270 lbs. Would this hammock be strong enough for him? Are the 7/64 amsteel whoopies enough of a suspension for 270 pounds?
Or do I need to make up another double layer hammock out of heavier material and possibly longer/wider? And maybe bump up the suspension? Maybe just use webbing? Thinking about making him one for Christmas.
Thanks,
bri
