"punch-card" computer programming. Ahhhh, the days of youth.

*CRINGES* Yes, I remember those days, I was only 7 or 8 back then but my dad did the programming for the school he worked at. I also remember playing yahtzee on a green screen and the first time he sent me a network message I was in total shock.

Punch cards and punch tape... days of old programing, you made one mistake and you had to do the whole thing over again, none of todays debugging and making the one correction. Worst was dropping said cards on the floor and having to try and get them back in order.

When I started messing with computers I had me a blazing fast 2400 baud rate modem.

My friend had a not so blazing fast 800 baud. Then we upgraded to 1200 baud. 2400 seemed super fast, then 3600 (I think), then 28.8, 56K... screaming fast.

I dont luckily remember punch cards, but I do reemember learning computer language on a pet, which was basically a screen and keyboard networked to a computer, the size of a big room, (a very expensive cooled filtered and did I mention big room) at college, and later in Saudi working with IBM's and visicalc and versicad. That was in the days of commodores and apple 2c's

When the Amigas came out, 2 of my friends lived next door to each other, we ran a cable between the 2 computers (out the window, between the 2 drives, in the the window and connect to the other comp) and 4 people played at once, it was one of the the lotus driving games . **** thats a long time ago, where does it go ?

How about a grocery sack full of the punch outs put all over the inside of your car at your wedding. Had it happen. Sold the car several years later and those things were still showing up.

Ah yes the infamous chad, in the Air Force we used to save the chad from the punch tape. On someone's last day before rotating back to the states we would hose them down with the fire hose and dump the chad on them. I think they are still finding them 20+ years later.

That's a good prank with the punch-outs. Might be fun to turn a Hennessey upside down and fill it with little punch-outs, then close the slit and flip it back upright. Can you imagine the look on the owner's face when opening the slit to climb in?

I was in Florida then. "Welcome to Florida, the chad State". I lived in Port Richey, just north of Tampa. Couldn't stand the heat, (or the ex-wife) had to move back home after being gone for 30 years.

Know what would be good though? Replace someones ploy straps with nylon ones, fill the hammock with chad. When they sit in it the hammock will drop you to the ground then bounce back up and make a chad snowfall.

I know this will happen, my first set of webbing was nylon. I hit the ground hard and then got hammock rash when it flew back up.
