Thanks Shug. That was well said.

Lets see, former/current passions include: Playing in a (read: buying a ton of music and lighting gear) circuit band. Racing a Porsche 911 in SCCA timetrials. I owned my own Sound company and recording studio for 15 years (read: buy LOTS of gear). Collecting cool and interesting firearms. Collecting 1st edition classic novels.

    Backpacking and Hammocking is nuthin.
It could be that the purpose of my life is merely to serve as a warning to others.

How long until this thread gets locked by the mods and moved to the "donating members" area, away from the unwashed masses?

    Money Well Spent

I started smoking at the tender age of zero

I was born into a smoking and drinkin' family,

But I never stuck a cig in my mouth till I was five and a half years old . . .

Smoked till I was 40 years and 73 days old, you do the math on that one,
    I'll do the rest . . .
    I haven't smoked nor drank since April 24th 1996. . . .
so that is 5321 days no smoking
they use to be $5 or $6 a pack then, and are now about $10 I'm guessing,
    so I will take an average at $7.50 . . .

    . . . todate I have not spent $39,907.50 on cigerettes . . .

That's not even thinking of the 2-3 bottles of Yukon Jack Wyski that I drank a week . . .

    . . . so if I want to spend another measly 3-400 bucks on camping gear . . .

First off Shug.............well said, well said indeed!!!!!!!!!!

Like others have stated I could be in a bar, chasing the opposite sex (hugely expensive!!!!!!)
I used to have a new gun a month habit::::::$500 to $2000 at a whack
There is the car collection: 1965 Mustang, 1989 Mustang, 1990 BMW 325is, 2003 Nissan Xterra 4X4. More money than I care to tally!!!!!!
Then there is the 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1500LC that just got $3000 overhaul to go to Sturgis
Spoiling my 9 year old daughter..........Priceless!!!!!

Hanging has just been a means to and end as far as I can tell..............It has caused me to take the time to get re-aquainted with nature and realize that it is ok to relax and spend time with my loved ones and meet a great group of people some only here on the site, others I have gotten to meet in person on the trail.........

Started off playing billiards and collecting cues, then move to guns and sniper competitions which included reloading, move on to collecting turkey calls, tried bull riding for two years till I broke my back, moved on to tournament bass fishing and high priced fast bass boats and equipment and now I still fish but from kayaks and yes I have way too many kayaks, 16 total. These hammocks and gear are the least expensive of my hobbies so far.

Whooooo.... I had a '65 Fastback Mustang ...pale yellow..... in high school. My sister went into the Navy and passed it on to me.
Sold it when I went to Clown college......
I will own a Mustang again someday........... a Passion that awaits.....
Messing with my hammock gear gets me always in the mind for a woods ramble. Good stuff.
I used to Party with Passion Plus. Had to downgrade a fair deal of that. For the better .......Life has a lot to give if you just go with it from time to time.
Tough to make a living in Loserville. I tried. I lost. Thus Loserville......
Then on to Fist City and Humble Pie.
You just gotta put that same enthusiasm to Positive Options. Inspire others with Actions.
This is the most I ever typed!!!!!

    Shug:
'65 was originally Seafoam Green but now it is Black on Black bought for my first child..........she has already told me that if I sell it I will be disowned as her daddy!!!!!!! She is now 9 and everytime she is here she checks under the car cover to see that it is still there and rubs it with a reverant look in her eye telling me :"that's my car daddy!!!!"
