    Hi guys,

    Sorry for digging this up.
I'd love to use the trailstar not only for sleeping on the ground but also for my hammock.
This thread is a wonderful resource on visualising how to.

Yet my trailstars guylines are already trimmed for ground camping.
So I wonder if you guys have practical advise regarding what length the guylines should have for the hammock height.
Ideally, I envision a kind of add on guylines to prolong the short ones, so I don't need to fiddle with longer ones when planning to leave the hammock setup at home.

    Thanks a lot!

I will try out my Golite SLA3 and SLA5 for this....as i have a Hammock Tent 90º Gamma, that can be difficult to use with a hammock tarp.

Noone out&about here with a trailstar anymore?
Any tip for something to flexibly hook into existing guylines to attach optional elongations?

Been eyeballing that 90° one - Just wondering with which tarp that can work...anyone an idea about the trailstar?

Being completely fresh to hammocking, the trailstar appeals as a shelter that I’d still get use out of on ground should the hammocking concept not work out for me. It also appeals as I like the notions of the (dreaded by hammockers) dual use set up for bike camping, hitchhiking trips, and generally backpacking where I often camp above the trees. It was a shelter I nearly purchased before deciding on a more conventional mid.

However, also being new to hammocks I can’t really tell how much extra “faff” these trailstar hammock setups are compared to something like a warbonnet mini/mountain/superfly (shelters Im also considering for a dual use ground set up -though I’d trust the trailstar more if I got caught in nasty above treeline weather). I also am not particularly financially well off, so I’d probably sell my mid if I got a trailstar (or something else) so would still want a storm worthy ground shelter (I’ll very likely still do ground only trips).

For those who have a better grasp of hanging tarps, can anyone advise to me how much “hassle” the trailstar appears to be for hammocking purposes, when compared to regular tarp-with-door designs?
