    Attn: Gorge Rats

Planning a relatively lengthy day hike in the Gorge Saturday. Wondering if there is any accumulation on the trail and such? Just trying to get an idea of what we are up against. Park rangers aren't answering the phone. Thanks in advance.

Haven't had any direct observations but there is ice and some snow accumulation visible from the lowlands so ... count on icy trails and beautiful scenery. If you have Katoola's or the like ... definitely take them. Watch yourself along the upper regions ... icy spots from seeps abound.

Louise's Restaurant just told me that it's clear but very slushy and Keister might just be a bit dicy right now and worse if the temperature drops and all that freezes up ...

BUT anyway ... have a great time ... keep an eye on the weather, it's suppose to go nasty again this weekend.

Have a great time up there ... take a lot of pictures and share them if you don't mind! And do keep an eye on that weather report ... it can get nasty in a heartbeat up in that area.

Thinking we're gonna move it to the Wilson Creek Wilderness. Easier to bail if it gets squirrelly

Somewhat ... but that area can get gnarly if ice accumulates on that road. Either way ... makes for a great weekend!

Everything was white Tuesday morning. That was viewing from the Hickory Airport 30 miles away. Ridges considerably lower than the rims of the gorge were white. Someone reported forest road 210 on the east side was a sheet of ice on Saturday too.

Whether we hit Wilson's or L-ville, I definitely plan on getting some killer shots this time.
