Heart of Dixie Hang, December 10-12

    Attention all Mid-South Hangers!

We are inviting you all to the Heart of Dixie Hang outside of Cheaha State Park (south of Anniston, AL) on December 10-12. Look at the attached map. If you reside inside the red circle, you are within a roughly 3 hour drive of the site!

Our current plan is to drive into the Turnipseed parking area and hike approximately 1 mile into the campsite. bigbamaguy and MandyDawn did an excellent reconnoiter of the campsite; it is posted here:

If you can, join us for fun and comradery! We will use this tread to coordinate attendance, activities, gear, meals and anything else we feel we should discuss. We'd enjoy seeing you out there.

hamhocker and myself just might come down for this. Is this going to be like the one Neo does?

Ewker, Having never been to a hang, I can't really tell you if it is like the one Neo does. But if you hum a few bars, we will try to figure it out! The more the merrier!

    Ewker and hamhocker:
We are planning on hiking in about a mile maybe a little more to the camp area. It would be nice to find a Neo like campground here in the area but unfortunately there are none. We had considered suggesting one area above Leesburg, AL but it is usually so crowded that it is hard to find a hang site.

However if you feel like packing in the smoker we will gladly eat anything you fix to help lighten the load on the way out.

I want to let everyone know this is not a "Sipsey Mile" we are talking about hiking to the campsite. It is an easy mile with gently rolling hills, the usual trail roots and rocks and a small creek. If you have one of the coolers meant for tailgating, larger wheels and stoughter handle it would be easy to get to camp.

We will try to get out over the Thanksgiving weekend to extend the video series and show some of the trail and obstacles on it.

Raise your hand if you like beer.

I have some homebrew that I will bring....hope you like it...it is comparable to Sam Adams IMO

Since I am a terrible cook, I will not bring any to share (I wouldn't do that to such nice people on HF)

This is the second campsite right??

hamhocker and myself like beer so we would be glad to sample some of your home brew.

bringing food to share brings up a good point. Are we doing that or just bringing our own food for the weekend. We can do either

Also I will need directions from Nashville.
