Going out tomorrow night for a cold weather shakedown... Was thinking Crooked Lake CG or Green Lake CG... Anyone got any beta on this area... Anyone interested in going...

Maybe some other time, cold weather testing close to home. I'm going into Blind Lake Rustic which is short hike in from Hankerd Road...

I did that hike earlier in the year .. just did the Crooked lake trail to get out on a day off. I have wanted to plan a hike of the full Potawatomi Trail and stay at Blind lake for the night ... Let me know how that is there ... I think there are rental yurts there too. But .... I think there is no dispersed camping allowed in that area (have to reserve a site) etc .. which gets cumbersome here in Michigan sometimes. Yet, let me know if you can do anything you want in the off season? Kind of like Seaton Creek? No fees ... No service??? Hang anywhere.
I know I can't get out there, have to work till' Thanksgiving! ....

Didn't make Blind Lake camp, ended up at Green Lake which is for the most part WIDE open.... Only about 4 site with good hanging, not an exceptionally cold night but started out at 32* and warmed up to around 40* by morning...

Played with cottonball firestarters... COOL!!! Cheap and light, need to get a small peice of sheet metal to make a "reflector" to focus small fire heat towards me...

I have been to Blind Lake, remember pit toilets and several sites along the edge of blind lake... Don't remember any rental huts but i could be wrong... Moving too fast on Mtn Bike to get a good look...

Pump was still working at Green Lake so had water... Planning on going out there again Tuesday Nov 30, longterm forecast for 18*... OH BABY!!! Then heading North for the week of Dec 6... Make me some snowmen...
