What part of SC? The beach is quite a drive from the highlands. I used to live there...loved it.

Jeff - there are plenty of great areas near Irmo. You will be about 2 1/2 hours from the Chattooga River (as in from the movie Deliverence), you will be about 2 1/2 hours from really nice camping and hiking in Pisgah National Forest and about 3 1/2 hours from the Smokies... I am sure the folks on here from the area would be glad to do a group hang next September, count me in.

Muskrat, Ricegravy, Dameon are the ones who's names I can remember. I'm about an hour and a half away in a little town called Kingstree. There's quite a few guys in the upstate too.

As a fellow bow hunter I can tell you that you are going to love the Carolinas! I'm sure you will - but make sure you have your permits and licenses in order w/ regards to hunting ( wouldn't want you to miss out! ) Great time of year for that area imho - gets too hot in the summer and has the potential to be cooler come Sept (last time I was down that way it was 104*F in the shade (ugh!)

Enjoy your trip - be safe - Happy Hanging and shoot straight
