    How is Your Addiction Coming?

A curious question popped in my head as I wondered if hammock camping is a hobby, a controlled substance, or an addiction.

My wife tells me that I can't hang a hammock in our room because the hammock comes before her. To prove that this isn't the case, I have to distinguish whether what I do is just a fun on-the-side hobby; something that can get out of hand but is controlled; or an absolute lustful, habitual, idol-worshiping addiction.

    How is it for you?

Apparently the TSA is doing the excessive pat-down/grope searches...looking for smuggled hammock gear.

So I think it qualifies as "controlled substance".

    edit:
The poll does not ask "eat, sleep, dream hammocks 24/7/365".
I wear a hammock t-shirt, made hammocks for people I don't even know and send tarps all over the world. My wife became a member, just so she can talk to me.

(just kidding about the wife, she is not a hammock person)

Did I mention my Shug tattoo?

    Did you consider leaving her?

No? Then it is just a fun hobby.

Yes? Then you got it bad buddy and should go to a meeting. You know the one... "Hi, I'm dejoha and I'm a hammock-a-holic".

I guess the first option is closest but really its a case of I like to get outdoors for backpacking and a hammock is essential gear - I don't have any other options that I would plan on using - worse comes to worse I'll adapt parts of that hammock/tarp and sleep on the ground but it is nothing I would ever _plan_ on doing

Gargoyle is still a light weight. My Wife has converted, so she can spend time with me, try to understand me.....still not there I think I went off the deep end of the pool holding a bolder. 2 years ago I just wanted to get back into backpacking a little. Now you can all see where drinking the coolaid will get you. I have hammock strung up in our bonus room 24/7. There is gear "stored" in every free space we have, mine and what may some day be yours And that is just the start of it.

Yes, I like your post! This made me laugh!!

You know, I tried to expand the poll question, but it said I was limited to 100 words.
