WHOOPIE SLINGS:What stops the rain

I have watched what I believe to be every video on whoopie slings this evening. I want to swap over my 12 yr old's HHULBP to the easiest system for set up without knots and things he just gets to sloppy with.

I am between the straps and buckles that I have on my WBBB and whoopie slings. I know that the rain has never made its way into my hammock with the webbing and buckles but I also have had rain run right down the ridge line on the HH. If I use the whoopies what will stop the same thing from happening? It appears the hardware which stops the rain run off is all on the tree end???

I also need the most simple way of tarp set up. I believe I will swap over to an above the tarp ridge line and prussicks to tighten up. Any one have a better option?

An above the tarp ridgeline will prevent water making its way under the tarp.
You could make a small loop of amsteel and larkshead it around the hammock end. Then use a caribiner or a dutch biner to connect the fixed eye of whoopie sling to that loop. The hardware will act as a drip stop. A scrap piece or cord tied to the sling near the hammock could also act as a drip stop.

If you set your whoopie so that the "Tail" is under the tarp the tail itself becomes a drip line.

The simplest, lightest effective solution. Switched the WS from Amsteel to the even thinner, lighter DynaGlide. The tail still does its job as a drip strip.

I slept through a pouring down rain all night once with small ribbons I cut out of Sham-Wow cloth. I tied them on my Whoopies just a little ways under the tarp and it stopped the rain great. Then after the rain stops that stuff wrings out almost dry. If I have to pack up, I leave the damp parts hanging out of the stuff sack until I get home where I can hang it all up to dry.

Dutch biner in the system, under the tarp is a great water break.

invert your woopies so that the adjustable loop end is connected to your hammock. via dutch clip to a continious amsteel loop larks headed to your hammock and just clip on the woopie. The nice part about this set up IMHO is you dont have to leave the suspension on when you pack up and you can easily use the same suspension system on mulitpule hammocks. The dutch clips acts as the rain stopper on the woopie. Hope that makes sense Dutch does a video on it some where around here.

I think he meant Dutch Biner instead of clip. Here is a vid, the second way shows it with the biner as a water break. You can use any biner that it strong enough however teh Dutch biner weighs 9.8 grams.
