    Pinch In trail

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPS2vYHD27E

Over Thanksgiving we camped way above the Gorge. This is a short vid of my son and I taking a nice long day hike down the Pinch In trail, up Linville Gorge Trail, and finishing up Conley Cove trail. We had a blast.

Nice! I've spent a little time in the gorge but never been up or down Pinch In Trail... herd stories, seen pictures, seen it from the other side, but I think that's the first time I've seen part of it on video.
But I noticed you stopped filming when you got on the steep part
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Looks like a nice day with the boy and the beast. Mo'better to go down Pinchin than up huh? Shame it was foggy, the views are magnificient on a clear day. Check out the opening to our May '10 trip video with the Gorge Rats ... there's a clip of Ken, Waterbar Jim and I going down it in clear weather. Mighty pretty trail. Waterbar Jim is the trail volunteer that maintains it. Ken and Jim do keep a mighty fine difficult trail in pretty good shape!

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

Getting to spend time on the trail with your son is good stuff. Thanks for sharing your outing with us.

How easy/hard is it to follow the LGT now? I've done it twice in past years and had a really tough time finding my way through. About 4 hours to cover the 5 miles!
I THOUGHT GETTING OLDER WOULD TAKE MUCH LONGER.

From Pinch In to Conley Cove was very easy to follow.

Thanks! Great news. Some of my young (40's, 50's) friends were scared off by my tales of previous "Bushwacking" travails on the LGT.

Every time I've been to the gorge - except the last trip a few weeks ago where we didn't hit pinch-in at all - I've hike out of the gorge up pinch-in. Going up it hurts. I don't know if my knees would let me go down it though ;-)

Not so much scared off as positively terrified.
