It could be that the purpose of my life is merely to serve as a warning to others.
Hah, again, ditto for me. I'll call MM if it looks like I'm gonna be really late to Bob's and just meet y'all at the trailhead or the shelter.

Formerly known as Acercanto, my trail name is MacGuyver to some, and Pucker Factor to others.
It's not procrastinating, its proactively delaying the implementation of the energy-intensive phase of the project until the enthusiasm factor is at its maximum effectiveness. - Randy Glasbergen
I was at Carvers Gap today hiking on the Balds with The Friends of Roan Mtn for their Naturist Rally. And Low-N-Behold I ran into Pucker Factor (Acer) in the parking area! He reported extreme winds on High Knob for Friday night, the sadness of his Pulk failure and that they all made it through the night just fine. Him & just a few others were on their way back from breakfast at Bob's!
They'll have lots of tales when they return!
I have info on the hand knitted Angora Boggans ( or Toboggans if you're from the south) too! They are very nice...look for them in the For Sale Forum soon!

I believe when Jeff and I went last year, the temp Friday night was .6+ with winds in the high 30's to low 40's. Even alcohol froze up....but it was fun to say the least!

Weisenger were you on Bob Bald about two years ago in January with a dog? I was in a tent at the bald and someone was in a hammock later that night. I spoke with a hiker the next morning and now that I think about it, it might have been you.

Yes Nelson it was .4 or .6 degrees according to the digi thermometer. You say the canoe trip was a little windy?
Yes it was windy! I was needing a friend in the front for sure. Those "canyon" winds were in my face all day and beat me down to an armless pulp. :-)

Sigh! I so wish I could go!
