We've talked about it, examined it, taken pictures of it, figured out all kinds of super-quantum math about it, and tried to copy it...and now the real thing is almost here! JRB just posted pre-order page for the Bear Mountain Bridge hammock. Here's a blurb:

The Jacks ‘R’ Better Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock is a true lay flat, sleep straight hammock. It achieves these notable results by departing from the common “gather end” design to utilize a suspension bridge design. The hammock takes its name from the suspension bridge over the Hudson River that carries the Appalachian Trail. When the Bear Mountain Bridge was completed in 1924 it was the largest suspension bridge in the world. Incidentally, this is the lowest point of the entire AT - 127 feet above sea level.

The JRB Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock is constructed of 70D rip stop nylon material and high strength polyester webbing. It will comfortably accommodate individuals up to 6 foot 3 inches tall and up to 225 pounds of capacity.
Total weight is 33 oz and it'll retail for $199.95.

There are several threads already started about this hammock...let's use this one to keep the discussions in one place.

Disclosure: A lot of folks here know that I have a business relationship with JRB regarding the Gear Hammock / Pack Cover. I have no financial interest in this hammock...just posting the announcement so folks know about a great new addition to the hammocking world.
