    Heavier duty ripstop??

Hey all: i am going to make a hammock for my brother for xmas and was talking to him about what exactly he wanted/what his uses would be so that i could make the most optimal hammock for him. he is pretty big (6'3" and probly 215-220) and he wanted to be able to have the option for "group hangs". I have been trying to find a good strong bomb proof fabric that would work. The heaviest ripstop i know of is 1.9, but i dont think thats going to be strong enough. If it exists, i think 2.5 oz ripstop would be perfect. If you all have knowlege of the "denier stuff than chime in.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Just make it a double layer 1.9. That would be plenty of weight capacity.

It would also allow the option of using a pad between the layers.

I used 1.9 form JoAnn's and it has been just fine in a single layer, and I'm 6'4" 335#. But I am considering adding a second layer so I can add my pad to it.

I'm 6'2" and 225. I use a DL 1.1. I occasionally put my 2 kids in it with me for short times. Probably an additional 70 lbs.

my "go-to" hammock is single 1.9 from joanns 235# no prob. even had a few nights in my experimental bridge single 1.7 no failures, got a hangin buddy near 300 uses one of my single1.9s and has never had an issue.
To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.
