Using this method on my Winter Tarp with snow stakes. Put a loop of line on my snow stakes with and s-biner and Shane's method with my tarp tensioner lines. Works very well to tighten the silnylon in the snow without moving the stake.

I've been using Shane's method and I like it a lot but I'm mildly concerned about the shock cord or Linelok breaking in the wind some day. What's the best backup plan for fixing it when that happens at 3am in the rain? It seems like Zing-it does not hold knots well.
Maybe I should just carry one extra shockcord/linelok/zing-it in my repair kit?
I haven't tried a trucker's hitch in Zing-it because everyone talks about how it won't hold knots but that's my favorite knot (er, hitch) in the whole wide world! I'll try it tonight!
Thanks!
This is not what you asked but I think these would be a better choice.

I have a set of these, but haven't used them yet. I have seen the prototype in action, and they are sweet! They are approximately 5.5" from the center of the toggle to the edge of the piece that attaches to the ridge line. The cord is shock cord, so it is made to have some stretch to keep things taut. Are you thinking of using them as tie outs as well? Hmm...now you've got me thinking...

I put this setup on my tarp and it works like a charm. Now I have to do some for Hamhockers tarp
