Decided to finally try an Insultex project (other than boil in bag cozies) so I made a weathershield to hopefully add a little warmth and protection from wind and rain for my JRB down under quilts.
Cut a single layer of IX and 1.1oz ripstop to a size slightly larger than a JRB Nest. Sewed the two pieces of material together using an overcast stitch to make the edges neat and prevent the ripstop from fraying. Rolled the short ends over to create a channel and also sewed grosgrain loops on all four corners. Using a cordlock and some gutted paracord in the channels so the weathershield can be shaped and gaps closed.
Also discovered that it worked fairly well as a lightweight top quilt. Was surprised that I could sleep comfortably with it indoors with a night setback temp of 62F. Snugged one end all the way up to create a sort of footbox. May add some ties a little way in from one end to make it more like a true footbox.
