    Started packing last night.

I should be home from work by 3:30, finished packing by 430, and then I have a 2.5 hr drive... plus Philly traffic so hopefully I will be there somewhere in the 7:00 range.

What time are other people arriving? Will it be hard to find you guys when I arrive or should it be obvious?

This will be my first hang, how does the food situation work? What should I bring to contribute food wise? I'm certainly no chef but I'll be stopping at the supermarket.

Oh and I just checked weather.com for Dingmans Ferry, PA, its currently 11 degrees pretty cool... errr cold. But it looks like the fri/sat night lows will be a bit higher.

jerzybears good luck with your cat.

    I'll see everyone tonight.

People will start arriving around two o'clock but most folks will probably get there later, say five or later depending on work and distance. From what I have surmised, you can find us by looking for lights & fire because there's not likely to be many other folks there. I imagine we might be near the north bathhouse since there is supposed to be a porta-potty there since it's off-season. Then again, I could be wrong. Print a campground map before you come or at least look at it at http://www.dingmanscampground.com/im...undMap2010.pdf .

It's really simple - first time group hangers supply all the food for everyone else. Filet Mignon or salmon is the usual fare. Sort of an initiation, I guess.

Seriously, you're on your own except for a potluck Saturday night (I think it's still on...). Some folks will bring the first meal from somewhere like Subway. Some folks go out but most don't and I am not familiar with the area so don't know if there's even somewhere to go. Most just make their meals there, often around the same time so they can ohhh and ahhh over each other's stoves and meal choices. Personally, since it's car camping, I'm bringing a two burner camp stove. I'll bring plenty of fuel so everyone can use it.

So just do whatever you feel and remember that quick is often good in the cold. Don't forget the hot chocolate or tea or coffee! See you there.

Unfortunately... I am going to have to bail. Rats. Sorry about this but the list of things to accomplish exploded with the acceptance of the offer we made on a house.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Rev - we understand... but we're not happy! We will miss you.

Take care and stay warm while we try to do the same. Good luck on the house items - they're more important than some ol' stinkin' campout anyway.

Jay...gotta say I will miss meeting you at this hang. The cat is home and had a UTI. She is on meds for a week to clear the infection and special urinary food to clear her bladder. All my gear is sitting in front of me in the dining room. (sigh) We will be more than happy to try this again at a future date. Please count us in! Hope to see all you guys at the pine barrens in January.

Leaving in 8-ish hours, barring any problems. See some of you there, some of you later, some of you only through pictures...

Ive got batteries and video cards empty, so you'll all see everything first hand...well, maybe not everything...

I have started a new trip report thread called "NJ/PA Dec 2010 Hang Trip Report." See that for the amazing story of our expedition to the frozen northlands.

Okay, it wasn't that cold and we were car camping and we had a heated toilet but you can still read about it at
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=25779 .
