What kinda tarp stakes do you use? I just spent the afternoon bending up all my aluminum Shepard's hook stakes, in the frozen ground, but I couldn't wait to pitch my brand new Warbonnet Superfly w/the doors .

I just do the ridgeline .... don't have the triangle things. I am happy to be warm-butted!
I morphed my pole together from old easton aluminum poles from a tent ... cut to fit my DIY tarp ... not sure of the length.
Make sure you are confident in all your gear for a Minnesota winter trip!!!!!! Not a time to be short on warm gear. I like to stay moving in winter camping. Sitting around is when the cold gets ya..... chores warm a feller goodly.
You still have time to be prepared.
I love the cold stuff!!!!!
Chega.
I never thought I would go pole ....... gotta stay open to change. I like it ... I like it a lot.
In my yard I pounded some MSR type groundhogs with a hammer. Where I on a trip ...with light snow .... rocks or logs. Until enough snow for snow stakes.
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
...Buddy!
Sorry, I don't like unfinished thoughts..
Regarding the pole mod, last June, Medician Man loaned me his set-up with a carbon fibre pole mod. I hiked the AT south from Mt. Katahdin, ME to Franconia Notch NH. 28 nights. The extra room the pole creates is great along with the variations in pitching it - up high for a porch to catch a breeze or down low when raining and blowing - with only four tie outs. I can see the additional tie outs would really help shed snow and stabilize the tarp in the wind.
Hey Shug,
What are these shockcord lifters you are talking about?
