    37* last night...and I got HOT

I'm new to this hammock stuff and I've been testing my gear at home where I can bail if I get uncomfortable or if there are any monsters out.

My setup is a WBBB 1.7 Dbl, OES Deluxe in sil, 3 Season Incubator (WOW!), and my BA Lost Ranger as a top quilt. I was wearing a long sleeve lightweight base layer and a Polartec fleece over that. Bottoms were just some boxers as my legs tend to stay pretty warm. Oh yeah, I used a Turtle fur hat to keep my head warm.

Went to sleep at about 11:00pm with temp about 45*. Got all snugly warm and fell asleep quickly. At about midnight I had to remove my hat as I was sweating. By 3:00am I had taken off my heavy fleece and was venting my TQ at my feet.

The 3 Season Incubator required no adjustments and covers me head to toe. I had bought some triangle thingees from AHE, but frankly didn't need them as the Inc stays just where I put it. I added a small loop of shock cord to the foot end to keep it where my toes didn't stick out from the end.

I'm blown away by how warm I was. This gives me the confidence to start going to much lower temps. I can't wait to get a chance to play with my setup in the piney woods!

Thanks to all of you at HF for giving me the info and inspiraption to go hanging. I ain't never going back to the ground again!

    Hey Jeff,

So the Incubator is a good fit on the BB it seems!

Sell your CS yet ... I'm too broke to buy it as I'm spending all my money here

    Hey Dan,

Just listed the CS on ADV this morning. The Inc fits perfectly. I couldn't be happier. Now all I need is more time off to ride and camp.

    Roundtrip..... thanks for the report.
My set-up will be exactly the same as yours except I'll have a 3 Season Burrow on top. I have the WBBB, and MacCat Deluxe already, and have ordered the 3 Season Incubator & Burrow. It's great to hear a review of the gear I'll have. I was hanging onto the triangles I used on my 2/3 UQ to see if they were going to be useful with the Incubator. Sounds like I won't need them. Good to hear that the Incubator is such a good fit to the WBBB 1.7 Dbl without much fiddling. I'm 5ft. 6in so that baby should keep me wrapped in downey goodness from head to toe.
Man, I might have to become a winter camper???????
Oops.... forgot to ask. Were exactly did you attach shock cord?

I worry more about starting to sweat when it is cold out than I do about being cold. Cold + wet is bad. I can always warm up with some jumping jacks or a brisk walk. Try cutting back on the layers when you go to sleep. I used to go to bed with wool baselayer, fleece top and bottoms, socks, wool hat and gloves. I'd always end up sweating. Now I just go to bed in my underwear. Less problematic, so far.
I have heard your confession I know who you blame
If you had it all back you'd just lose it again

Just ran the suspension over the whipped ends. Easy peasy. Tighten the head and foot cinch cords up pretty tight. At 5'6" you won't need the bit of shock cord I ran to the foot end.

Exactly what I did in my tent/sleeping bag. Now I know that my Incubator will take care of me, I'll do that with my hammock too.

Smart to test set up at home before taking it into the woods and finding out it does not work. I am also testing some different combinations of pads and bags to find out what works for me at different temps. My only complaint is having to get up in middle of night to answer natures call.

I'm lovin' the input here! Just ordered a 3-season incubator for my NX150, and have been a bit apprehensive about it. You guys leave no doubt it's a good thing to have. Up in the high lonesum it can get frosty any time of year, even if you're sauteed in sweat during the day, so cold weather equipment is good to have along. Thanks for the input.

Nice to know the 3 season works well. It's supposed to be even colder tonight (26F), might be the perfect time to test out my new winter incubator!
