    Plain Jane rubber bands.

Just wondering if there is anyone else that hammock camps that uses rubbers bands for securing odds and ends. I always carry a small ziploc full of them. They are very under rated in my book for their usefulness while hiking, etc.
I see alot of talk about knotbones and knots and bungee, etc. Here a few of the uses I have for them.

    1. I always use one when putting away my figure nines.
    2. I use one on each side of my UQ to make sure it doesn't come off during the night if I need to adjust half asleep.
    3. Closing up bags of unused food.
    4. Holding my bag/TQ closed while I grab the stuff sack.
    5. Holding my pants legs closed during skeeter season.
    6. Holding back my hammock sock.

This is just a few off the top of my head. They are free, light, and have a permanent home in my pack.

Sorry, while I am rolling them up and have only one hand free, I usually hold a band in my mouth and roll it over the bag really quick so I can free my hands up.

    Gotcha.

I've never carried rubber bands in my pack, but I do like some of your ideas. Closing off pants legs or sleeves with one is a good method.

I thought everyone carried rubber bands, haha. I carry a few and do the same with my pants(mainly cause there to long) and my woolrich sweater becauce the sleeves are really lose. Other tan that mainly just closing off for bags.

I wonder how bigger ones wouldt work for tarp tensioners. I'm sure they'd crack and break in the cold.

Probably would break. My mom works for the U.S.P.S. and brings me a new bag of rubber bands every 6 mos or so. I thought about posting this after my hike this weekend when my buddy noticed I had rubber bands all over the place. It made me curious to know if I was the only one.

#1 Should have been putting away my figure 9's and attached rope.

It's interesting someone also uses rubberbands. I have just recently started using them for holding stuff:

my food - I have my meal in a quart Ziplock which I also eat out of. I put the additional stuff for the meal in a gallon Ziplock. Dessert (York Peppermint Paddy Reese's cups etc.) bread/roll, etc. I roll it all up and secure it with a rubberband.

my extra cordage/misc. stuff in my cordage bag - Keeps everything nice and tidy. I can reach in and pull out my suspension extenders, extra guyout line, etc. I have tried the "Vulcan wrap" with cordage and it just didn't seem to work for me.

I keep an s biner hanging off my ridgeline. When I unpack a meal or a piece of cordage, I clip it on to reuse next outing.

How about some pics to show what you band with the little rubber thingies....

On the Wooden Boat Forum, asking someone for pics is referred to as "Trolling for boat porn."

I guess the expression "Trolling for hammock porn" would not be appropriate for this group.

    Lightbulb

I have not carried rubber bands, no, but you give me ideas. On occasion I have carried wooden clothes pins, though!
