Close to ordering a tarp and was leaning toward Spinn due the weight savings and what I have read here about moisture not seeping through to the underside of the tarp.

With the new pricing and the slight weight reduction of the fabric, I'm wondering this: Is Spinn worth $90 (w/panel pulls) to save just 2oz. and get better moisture properties?

To be clear, this is not a knock on Brandon's products at all, merely the reality in choice factors.

That comes down to A: how good are you at not bumping your tarp if its raining (pullouts/pole mods help) B: how disposable is your income/how much can you afford, and C: does it matter if a little comes through when it gets bumped by your back (if you use down jackets the answer is always yes, if synthetic its taste). Personally I use sil, got one of the new superflies with pull-outs and I intend to mod my old mambajamba with a pole mod and may do a cut and grosgrain job to make the doors permanent (not sure on the door part yet).

Thanks tbctx. The last thing I want to think about when I get out of a hammock is getting wet from the tarp (oxymoron?)

I thought there would be more opinions on this. I'm leaning toward the Spinn as I want the best I can afford, but don't want to spend extra cash needlessly.

Nood question: Does this mean that a sil tarp will let some water through but a spinn won't?

They are loops that are attached in the centre of each side of the tarp, not on the edge but in the centre of the tarp fly.
When the tarp is pitched in a tight V shape, there is a risk that the sides of the tarp will touch the hammock. The pullout loops give you other set of attachment points so you can pull the tarp away from the hammock, making it roomier inside. Look at the tarp pics on the Warbonnet site and you will see them.
