Thanks for fixing the video URL. Now it's easier to understand what you want to do. You can see that the length is short, but it looks like a workable system. I am skeptical about the 15° rating for this setup (looks more like 45° to me), but otherwise it seems okay. If you want to use something like this in colder temperatures, just use two sleeping bags end to end, overlapping some in the middle.
    Good luck!

neat idea but yeah the 15 degrees is a pipe dream more like 40but if weight aint a problem then double it and use a top quilt and it should take you down to freezing or better.

The opening at the head ending of the hammock would need something to seal it off at his shoulders, otherwise it would create a microclimate in the bag ( warm body heat rising out around the shoulders drawing in cold air, actually creates quite a cold air draft) and yes no way as that is would it keep you warm below 45f.

I had success with using a 30 degree cheap bag. I believe it was a long and fit pretty well over my entire hammock. I used it and a closed cell foam pad when I was first starting and was able to sleep comfortably in 11 degree weather.

Sleeping Bag as a pea pod

I did it by putting a hole at the foot and head of my synthetic sleeping bag after cutting off the bug net on my Hennessy Coccoon hammock. Cutting a hole at the top the head allowed me to still cinch it up around my face most of the way. The sleeping bag still hangs down but I use a Insultex underquilt. It got down to 23 degrees the weekend of Thanksgiving so I used a 2nd sleeping bag inside the 'pea pod'.
I wish my bag was a long version. I was snug as a bug in a pea pod and very warm, except my toes. The Insultex was maladjusted and it didn't go to my feet. A photo is on the PA Fall Hang postings but its too far away to see how its done.

So making a sleeping bag into a pea pod is doable.

Thanks alot guys. This info is very helpful and now I do know I could do this.

I still may decide to buy a nice UnderQuilt, and take a Nice down comforter to use over my bag as a TopQuilt.

Thanks for all the input. Now if I could just find a home for the SnugPak sleeping bag I have, I might could justify buying a real UQ.
