DIY marlin spike replacement

I was playing around with a design on getting rid of using a spike because I saw a guy slip and end up on his butt. i also don't like to use carabiners because they're too bulky in my bag so i came up with these gizmo's.

weight - ~16g/ea
load bearing ~800lbs (i'm never less than a 20deg angle hang)

i've got multiple tree straps, ones with eyelets ones without so their designed to accept either/or. they will also accept up to 1/8 amsteel.

what's your thoughts?

Those look good to me. Nicely done. Does the safety knot have any tendency to bind after you've hung, or is there virtually no slippage of the strap?

First, those "gizmo's" look way cool. Second, and I'm not quant here, does a piece - your gizmo - hold well when it does double duty like in your pics? You have the cinch-buckle aspect and then the marlin spike hitch. When using a toggle along with a dutch clip or some sort of biner, isn't the load distributed down the webbing and then on the marlin after you have your cinch/clip/biner attachment? Just want to be sure you're not causing too much stress on one particular area. I'm a newbie here but those are just my initial thoughts. I totally dig your gizmo and if they support the weight, I would be your first buyer.

the stress on the webbing is applied mostly at the top slot but distributed throughout as it loops through. as it goes through the other two and then back through the first the load is distributed fully. the half hitch in the back is just a saftey factor. it's not needed and doesn't tighten during loading. i've since changed the slot sized to add more bit on the straping. i've tested it by just running it through the 3 slots but i normally and recommend going back through the top slot to ensure there is no slip.

Cool idea. Seems like you wouldn't need to use a whoopee slind. You could use a single strand of Amsteel and do a marlin spike hitch on the point. It potentially could save a little cord weight.
