Snow, in and of itself, doesn't really change anything with regards to the sleep system.

10*F is 10*F with or without snow on the ground.

You do need a tarp for the snow but I am assmuing you have one already.

You do need to keep the snow out of your boots [gaiters or high boots].

You do want to wipe snow off of your body/clothes/gear fairly frequently since it will melt due to your body heat.

Love hiking with a gentle snow fall. Magical.

High 20s low 30s with wet, slushy, snow and icy condtions are tough. I usually stay home or just dayhike if those conditions are expected.
    Love my JRB BMB

    thanks

thanks for the suggestion. I will try and get myself a space blanket as well. As far as the pad, it is long enough to be used under my whole body and my feet; that's what I am planning anyways. I am really excited. I've been bringing my set up to work and practicing during my lunch( I work in the redwoods but there is also a bay and oak forest and several madrones. Today i will practice setting up the doors on my tarp.
I will take pictures of the trip. Thanks again.

    Hey Tim,
thanks for the advice. Maybe you misunderstood me. The temps here on the coast are not the same as in the Sierra where I am heading, that's why I can't practice the set up in those conditions. I am familiar with snow, slush, wetness, gaiters and all that. I posted that I have 2 tarps to choose from. Unless it's extreme weather, I won't stay home and pass up the opportunity to be out. I was raised in the snow and I have camped in it. What is new to me is the whole hammock thing.
