Are you talking about the tri-rings used in hammock suspensions? If so, I've more than got you covered.

I'm having an UQ to hammock gap issue. In -2F weather the SC fully stretched and froze that way. Yep the old "Chilly Shoulder Syndrome" lol

When I installed this UQ it was tight against the hammock making a nice seal. 9 hours later I had this. Doing many searches I found this sag is very common
and the best fix is a triangle thingy.

Seems like lots of people are having this gap problem with all the UQ's that use a shockcord suspension. It's not mfg specific.

I understand how the shockcord based suspensions can allow a quilt to drift around a bit and the triangles Paul sells are a most excellent solution for that, although I don't move in the hammock and therefore never experience much quilt shift.

However, what I'm reading in your post and pic is that the shockcord got cold and stretched to it's max causing the UQ to droop loosely below you. Is that right? I've been to the double digit side of below zero many times, always using a shockcord based UQ suspension, and have never experienced that problem. There has to be something else at work here beyond the shockcord. Just has to be.

MrsMustardman and I will be there - possibly staying until Monday if many others will be around. We will have to play it by ear.

We'll bring a few small wood burning stoves to mess around with.


I just got a new fishing pole with both fly and spinner reels that breaks down into about 96 little pieces to make it very packable - any thoughts on the fishing opportunities? Please bear in mind that my primary background is bass fishing from a boat, and I have no clue about the seasons in Colorado because I haven't gone fishing since moving out here.

Lots of trout in the Reservoir. There was no ice on it when I scouted the site so you may be able to do normal cast fishing...based on temps here since then, I would expect this to still be possible. If there is ice, I wouldn't trust it to be thick enough yet for ice fishing.
