Cool, I live 2 miles from Chatfield Res (C470 & Wads) sometime late February early March when/if it gets thick enough if you'd like to try let me know. I usually take my pack stove and skillet out on the ice. Nothing yummy-er than fresh trout hors d'oeuvres while your waiting for that next bite.

If Mustardman gets lucky and starts hauling fish into camp we will all wish we had poles. [little devil icon]
I know I have a little room in my pack for foil, butter and lemon juice.

    Guys,
I'm relatively new to the forum. I would really enjoy joining the outing and learning how you guys make hammock camping work. I intend to throw a DIY hammock together just for this trip. Do you have room for one more?

We have room for more than one more! Welcome and consider this a formal invite.

My first DIY hammock got me accused of being a Bama fan. There really is no color like the Crimson Tide is there?

    Welcome Bama.
I don't know your level of winter camping experience.
I highly recommend the shug video's to get you started on the right foot.

    ==============

After food mentioned cooking frozen bricks of regular meals.
I started to think about how I would do that.
Wrapped in Foil or baggy lay by the fire to thaw so it would fit in my pot.
Anyway it all seemed like a hassle so I decided to bring a little of both.
Some freeze dried backpacking food and some toss the fire meals.

    What are you guys doing?

And when the tamales are gone we will always have fresh fish that mustardman and JustJeff have caught.

relying on my fishing skills to provide dinner is like relying on the Broncos to provide a superbowl victory

Are you using a sleeping bag on top? You'll need something.

That MW3 might not be enough by itself. Too far out to tell, but the way the temps have been so wacky lately, it could well get into the single digits overnight. Best to be ready for it anyway. Do you have a pad of any kind? If you're using a sleeping bag, that layer under you (compressed) might be enough of a bump in conjunction with the MW3.
