For a while now I've been wanting to hang at work somehow. I work at a large University hospital so during the summer I would always look around for trees or poles or pillars etc but I never had the opportunity.
This past weekend I was working nights and it happened to be a slow night which is rare. We usually sleep on couches in our staff lounge on these kinds of nights so I went out to my car and grabbed a spare hammock and went about looking for a place to hang. I was relegated to looking for a couple of doorways that were properly spaced apart to provide me with my anchor points. I found a few locations but they were all too open and I did not want anyone happening upon me to either disturb me or to accidentally open a door I was hanging from.
Finally I found a back stairwell not frequented by anyone, not even security so I set up the hammock and it was just right. The hammock was a cheap parachute hammock that I modified by shortening it to get the feel of what the ultralight hammocks out there feel like.
The anchor points were about waist high and since I like a lot of sag it was quite comfortable for a snooze. For one end I tied a knot in the webbing and slid it through the hinge size of the door. The other end was simply tied to a railing.
Here is a picture I snapped with my Blackberry since you people will say "pics or it didn't happen". It is nice to say I have finally hung at work. Thanks for reading.
