Need Help Designing The Ultimate Indoor Hammock

I love sleeping in a hammock and my aging back loves it as well so I want to design
a hammock without regards to weight ect.
I have made a number of gathered end hammocks using ripstop each getting better with the help of this fantastic fourm and my improving sewing skills.

The design has to hang on a Vario Stand other than that I'm just looking for
something I can wash on a regular basis and has a flat lie.

Fabric would be my first concern as ripstop is great for our camping, it's not
so good for easy repeated washings.

The hammocks I've made so far have been the standard 60" wide double layer 9'-10'long.
The last one I enclosed the last 20" or so of the top with a triangle of fabric<--
so far it's been my favorite.

I'm curious if adding the side panels and or footbox would add anything.

Slowhike I think, was adding a spreader bar to a gathered end hammock and
that it seems may get rid of any possible shoulder squeeze and open it up.

I'm fishing for Ideas guys / gals......any ideas?

Supplex is a great fabric - plenty strong, but it has a nice soft cotton-like feel.

Not sure what material to suggest but for a dedicated indoor hammock I'd try to create one with insulation built-in. No need to use expensive insulation either since weight doesn't matter and you're only insulating against indoor temps.

I think spreader bars are a good idea. I'm not sure about the fabric though. If it's an indoor hammock, then you could use almost anything. A natural fabric like a heavy cotton may be best for washing.

One thing I am thinking about that would be neat. .... imagine this..... cup holders

Whatever fabric you make it out of, try using 11' or 12'. It's sooooo much roomier than 10' for some reason.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

VW Supplex is what I was considering too but when you look at the sources there seem
to be variations has anyone used a particular one?
Knotty I agree and I've got enough IX left over from our group order that I think I'll
sandwich between layers or maybe a piece of fleece.
Babelfish5 I'm thinking maybe one spreader bar at the head side but I'm not real sure of
    how to tie it in.
Pucker I too have noticed that length = comfort in a big way but I'm limited because of
the room size, I may get 11' in there. This was why I'm considering the side panels and or footbox. I've not seen much feedback of people that have tried this without the net.
Thanks for the thoughts guys keep um coming if anything comes to mind.

I got mine from Quest Outfitters, but it was a couple of years ago, and I still have some left. The supplex they carry may have changed since then, so it's probably worth a call to ask Kay. You could call other vendors, too. They should be able to tell you the weight per square yard and other characteristics of the fabric if there really are different types. You might have a wider choice of colors that way, too.

I second the under insulation. Even living in Honduras and using the air conditioner almost all the time I need my underquilt. Well, I don't really need a snugfit, but that's what I have. I sleep in my Trek Light since my stand at 10' is too short to really do well with the BB. I used a cheap singlenest knock-off for awhile after my modification on the Trek Light came apart, and it was not comfortable after about a week. In the middle of the night I was redoing the Trek Light just to get some sleep.

In my old house with the longer stand (vario type) I used a non-breathable pad in between the layers of the BB and was damp/chilled both nights I tried it. That's why I'm using the snugfit down underquilt here. I may see if the PX has a velux blanket to make a lighter uq, but so far it hasn't been pressing enough.

WV I too like Quest and their Supplex is suggested for hammock use.

Shadowmoss currently I use a thick rectangular Karo step quit that I made for outdoor use It works fine indoors when I drape the ends open to vent, if I get cold I cinch them up a bit. I do intend at some point to make a lighter one for use inside.
