Weekend #1 in the woods with the hammock

Well I finally got my tarp and crowsnest this week, so this weekend will be my first time out with the whole setup in the woods overnight. I just wish I had my WB Traveler to go with it, but that is for Christmas.

I have never set the tarp up, so that is my main concern for this weekend. I need to get some figure 9's to help that process. If not, I will do my best with knots.

Gonna go the easy route and camp close to the truck at a state park primitive tent site loop. Just a short walk in. I am definitely looking forward to it.

I have the camping part down to a science for what I like to do and how I do it, but the hammock will be a new twist. I guess I need to charge the camera to get it all chronicled.

Anyone have any pointers on the tarp? I went with the OES MacCat Standard with one panel pull out per side.

Sounds like you have a nice setup. Which State Park are you going to? I have gone testing a coupla times at Sumter, love it there!

I learned a few things from Red O'Leary's video here about "Tarp to Tree Options":
    www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24919

He demonstrates a lot of the techniques pictured in Dejoha's diagram (linked by ShadowAlpha above in post #2)

Second that. I learned mucho informationo. Tossed in a little of my Granddaddy's wisdom and my inaugural tarp experience was successful.

Hint: Watch the videos multiple times. All the options really sink in that way. Also, it may change the way you talk, and whatnot....
