Hey guys and gals. I leave for summer camp in 2 weeks and if your from Texas/Oklahoma area you know how hot it gets and with all the rain the bugs are crazy. I wanted to get a fan for my hammock, but I am using a Ridgerunner (no ridgeline inside) I have heard if you use a fan and the mosquito net the wind will be deflected by the net. Has any one came up with a solution for this yet? I would for go the net in favor of the wind, but I hate mosquitoes!

Not that I have seen. I thought of trying ti find a fan that clamps, so I could clamp it to the head spreader bar.
You could try picaridin if you want to lose the net.
Wow tough question. I would not want to even think "Net Less". Dip the hammock without the netting and then put the netting back on after the hammock has dried? There are tiny personal fans, even if you could rig it up, I doubt it would help. I played with trying to use a fan in my Hennessy before I gave up the hammock as being too claustrophobic for me. When I lived in Joplin and Okie City I remember how crazy the insect population was, being from the NW, I was shocked by all the critters roaming around. Maybe some sort of "Swamp Cooler", damp towel? I am very interested to read what other members suggest.
This is why I tend to be a 3 season hanger, fall, winter and spring, and I'm much further north. I did pick up a little AA fan with the foam blades for a couple bucks but haven't used it yet.
try the Travelon 3 - Speed Personal Folding Fan. We use them hanging from our ridge line, but they are bendable and if you needed too you could set it on your chest and bend it to point at your face. They move a good bit of air on high setting. The blades are a soft plastic, and they stop if you touch them, so they are safe to use inside the hammock.

You could have the fan blowing on the bottom of the hammock. I've done that before. It helps cool you down a good bit if it's a strong enough fan. Let us know what all you try and what works out best for you. Good luck.

Thanks for all the ideas. The fan under the hammock is pretty ingenious. I was thinking of getting this clamp on fan I could put on my spreader bar at the head, then close the netting around the fan part. It would leave a small opening.
If it doesn't work I could put it underneath.
