test yourself and your new toys, it should be nice and cold.

hike is .5 - 1 mile into the pinegrove.

Trailhead is at bottom of hill. At top, there is a service rd and a natural gas silo. If there is just a couple of us, we park there. Pine forest is down the service rd (which turns into a trail) on left.

If we have a few of us, we park at trail head and hike the one or two miles up the hill and end up in the same place. It's either or. depends on how many cars/who is going. I am not opposed to the hike from the trailhead. Good chance to stretch legs without killing myself..... I will see if I still have map and try to post it.

wildcat hollow is just north of burr oak lake state park. The closest town is Corning Ohio. Its about an hour to hour and a half SE of columbus/buckeye lake.

I have canoed at Burr Oak before. I am going to try to make it, assuming that the Burrow Hammock Gear shipped Tuesday makes it in by then. Dang holiday season mail slowness!

would love to meet you jim! Especially since we share similar tastes.(Pnet) I thought wildcat would be good because it doesn't get the traffic that zaleski SF gets. There, all the sites are so worn down, its like camping in mud, no grass left. (lots of scout troops go there - nothing wrong, just means more traffic)

Wildcat has no potable water supply, so bring your own. If you want, drop some at the upper area where the gas silo is, but since its just one night, you should be able to carry enough in from the bottom.

Wildcat has some nice big pine groves, good for group hangs. I camped there (before I found hanging) this past spring when we got the foot of snow late. Very tranquil.
