Just double-checked my gear. Nope, sorry. Last time I saw it was sitting near the fire ring to keep from freezing.

The Yuengling bear thieves may have grabbed it...?

    Smile Great time, didn't freeze

    Hi all,

You guys are great!!! Thank you all so much, you made my first winter hang bearable and fun. Everyone helped me at some point with tying knots, pulling out a stake that was frozen in ground, adjusting underquilt, providing hot water, jump starting my car twice, placement of drip lines, fire!, moving tables, lots of great gear info. for future reference, etc.,etc.

JD gets honorable mention for waiting for me more than once, leading the way to Dingmans, pointing out site, making sign, figuring out what my car problem was and jump starting it with Vagabond(2x), procuring a heated trailer, and making me coffee on the last morning in the trailer when my hands and feet were soaked and numb. And just being a stand up guy, gentleman, mentor and friend.

As far as the hang goes, I slept better the first night, opposite of what usually happens. I think I got too confident and used to little insulation. I just added more and was fine. As usual I brought way too much stuff and just threw it in car, then spent hours organizing it Sat. The guys didn't even get to see my backpacking stoves as we were really car camping. Since I was so behind I didn't visit as much as I wanted. I need more camping experience and will do that when it is a little warmer.

Thank you Jay Loden for setting this hang up. It was great and I learned so much. I will post my pics hopefully tonight.

Agreed! J.D. did probably more than anyone else to make this a successful hang. By the time I showed up at 2:30 J.D. had already made all the arrangements with Walt for the campsites, firewood, and the trailer/toilet. He also thoughtfully brought the sign for us all to sign in, and directed folks into the campground. And all this after having by far the longest drive to get there! Much appreciated J.D. - it was great to see everybody and I look forward to the next time!

    Personal Shower

    Mary,

Thanks for the pics! (You too Warren)

For those who have never been to Dingmans, please note that some of the sites have these personal showers as shown in Mary's pic. Vagabond lucked out and had that shower where he set-up; but, never used it...

====> LOL! Agreed! I got hit for right around $5000.00 to save a new cat that was my youngest daughters. We had gotten it as a replacement for her other cat which we had to put down (stroke), so we HAD to save this one, or she would have been in therapy for years! The cat had eaten some loose string on the floor, and it had wrapped about his intestines, cutting them, and he had major crap leaking into his body. Major surgery. $5K.

I like cats, but I can't eat a whole one by myself.
