Enjoyed the video. Brings back memories when I lived in the area in the 70's and my camping/hiking friends would wait for a winter storm and then head out.

I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
That's "MacNuk" if you please!
This weekend my wool pants did very well, but I'm going to put knee patches on them. I wondered if they would be adequate in MN in Jan. I had wool long underwear under them, and I was warm. When I was idle, and when I was in the wind, I felt like I needed a thigh-anorak. Perhaps a simple set of canvas chaps that go from the top of the thigh to the top of the boot. What do you use on top of your wool pants when you go traditional?
That's just what we did! We jus' ain't right!

If it snows we'll definitely do a Uwharrie hang!
Thanks for sharing the video! Looks like a great trip you had there. Beautiful area!
And those folks will be eating good!
Good stuff, that barn makes for a neat shelter. Don't think we have anything like that around these parts.... just your typical and much smaller AT shelters.
Now I am really looking forward a snowshoeing trip we just need to snow to cooperate. Thanks for sharing.

Wind chaps of canvas or WP nylon works great, with top open there is plenty of ventilation. I like to put a thin layer of foam isulation in the knees so when I kneel they don't cold cold or wet. It is like having an xtra layer of wool in the wind !

One day, it will snow in the UWharries... Joe *******i thinks it is not likely this year, but be ready anyway!
I wish I were as productive when I hunt!
They told me it burned down, and whomever rebuilt it tried to make it as close to the original as possible. It was likely an historic structure.
You're entyrely welcome! ...and you're entyrely likely to get more snow than us'ns here in Piedmont NC!
That's a good idea, the foam behind the knee patch...

Very nice. Thanks!
Hey MacNuc, I herd that because you, the elder of the group, a decision was made to use the "Handicap Trail"
What a harvest of deer! Somebody ought to be eating good this winter.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
