    Christmas present advice

Well both of my best friends are very tall. One is 6'2" and 160lbs. The other is 6'4" and about 210 maybe more. I am going to make them both hammocks for there christmas presents and UQ's from some insulation I got from one of there moms, and if I get real hot a pair of tarps. From some fabric I bought my mistake.

Ok here is my dilemma since there are both so tall my 10' hammock was a little too short for them so I am wondering if I go 12' if the lay will be better or should I just go one foot longer to 11'. I am also wondering if I should go with 1.1 doubled or 1.5 doubled or maybe one of each.

For you tall guys what length do you prefer for a really good flat lay. I am a mostly short person 5'7" and I love the big billowiness of my diy and double nest. I want to them get the same feel.

I'm 6-4, and a 10 footer is fine for me. Maybe start with a 10'-6" raw dimension.
If your hammocks get to big, the tarps will also have to get big (heavy) to cover the hammock.
hyoh, though. So do what you think will work best.

I am 6'1" and I have made a 12', 11', and a 10 1/2'. I like all of them, but find the 11" about perfect, so I would go 12' on those. That should accomodate them.

I am 6' 2" and my DIY (HH style) started with raw fabric length of 11'8" which ended up after hemmimg the ends for a gathered end style w/ a hammock length of 11' 5" but since my fixed ridgeline is 108" the hammock fits well under my tarps and I find the extra sag results in a very comfortable & flat lay.

Good luck and by the way if this is how you treat friends I'll be your friend!

I made my buddy (6'2 210) a 10 footer, single layer and he loves it. Uses it over his other hammocks everytime we go out.

Here is his ugly self in it right here,

Right on! You've got very fortunate friends.

If I were making gathered end hammocks for tall folks I would start with 11'.
I'm 6'4" and I like mine about 10' 5" or so long, with a ridgeline length of about 105 or 106".
However, starting a bit longer gives the option to shorten them if needed.

If you start with something that turns our to be too short... well, not much you can do to solve the problem after the fact.
