    Nite Ize knot bones

Some time back Nite Ize knot bones were discused here on the forums. As I recall quite a few people were impressed with them and were going to get them. I was just given a handful of them. So I am curious to hear and see how members here are using them.

the main thing i use them for is to attach my tarp tensioners like in this clip from Hawk-Eye

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ight=knot+bone

works like a charm. i just leave the shock cord attached to the pullouts all the time (since i set my tarp up in the diamond config all the time)

I just started using them on my tarp and they worked great. Had some major wind the other night and they held up very nice.

I use one on my ridgeline. I also throw an extra in my bag for joining two lines, clothesline or whatever the need be.

Used a couple to extend a tarp guy line this past weekend. Make sure you are using smaller size cord since paracord is too large to fit in the end slots.

Thought I'd love them for my tarp's continuous ridgeline but unlike Figure 9s you can't get any purchase on them to pull things tight. Had also hoped that they wouldn't snag lines during storage like Figure 9's do but they do.

Nite Ize has some really great products, if not abet pricey. I've gone to using HamMike's setup, but have the Fig. 9's as my backup.

    Tarp Lines

I've been playing with the Knotbones hooked up to shock cord for taking up slack. I had originally just tied them on to the two side lines (not the ridge lines). But today I tried an experiment where I added one to each end of the ridgeline. They now owrk so that not only to I have something to take up any slack, but I also have a quick tie off if I just bring the line around my tree and tie it into the existing knotbone. haven't actually tried it yet in the rain, but I'll let you know how it works.

    Holdin' up my pants!

I took my nylon pants and cut the web belt off and replaced it with some paracord and a knotbone. Not only will this lighten up the load for the gram weenies, but it also provides you with a spare knotbone just in case.
