Smile black bird in the nest

    my first hammock arrived today.
i've been a tent/tarp camper since the 70's (even slept in my canoe a couple times). i found HF and i really like the idea of hammock camping, so i started researching hammocks. i settled on a WBBB-DL 1.7 with a SF tarp.
i'm really "chomping at the bit" to hang'er up but to be fair i'm gonna wrap it up and nest it under the tree.
meanwhile i'll construct a rack in my shed so i can hang it Christmas day. i haven't been this anxious in a long time.
    thanks HFers and Warbonnet.

Waiting until Christmas?...Wow. That's some strong will! I think I was in my BB about 2 minutes after I got it. Congrats and hope you have a great Christmas hang!

With that kind of will power you might be able to stay away from the gear obsession. I would have wrapped the receipt in a box and taken the hammock up the hill when it arrived.

    Santa hangs too!

Hang it near your tree, next to the milk and cookies and see what happens!

thanks Odds & MuseJr. i did think about hanging it over my side of the bed. i even remembered talking my wife out of a 4 poster bed about 10 years ago. what was i thinking? that would have been handy.
as for gear, i'm sure i'll get around to that too. i enjoy making, modifying and tweaking things, which means i'll be learning how load and fire a thread injector.
i'll be posting my misadventures as they happen.
    i wish y'all a Very Merry Christmas!

hang'n by the tree is a great idea. i need to buy a pair of columns and strategically place them for ease of hang.
thanks McSpartan, i think my wife would like a pair of columns for the living room. i let her choose from the ionic, dorian or corinthian. i bet she'll go with the corinthian?
