UQ Mark II Cold Weather Test

With the windchill into the teens in the Keystone State this evening, I finally had a chance to test my second generation uq. As I am still playing around with different designs/materials, this particular uq is simply made from walmart high loft batting and an emergency blanket tied in. In harrisburg right now it is 19 but feels like 5 with windchill. I've got to say, I am well pleased! Wearing fleece pants, and a sweatshirt I was comfortable. Although their was a intermitent cold spot on my hind quarters, all-in-all I got more than I expected. The question I have for my fellow hangers is: I want to go for down next time, and i am wondering if (given my current success) it is significantly better vs it's difficulty?

Having just finished a down UQ after several synthetics, I can say confidently, down is absolutely no more difficult. More time consuming, yes. More difficult, no.

i'm looking for lighter and more compact. Thanks for the input. I will probably get around to it mid-january. I'll post pics when finished, and maybe sell the synthetic one for cheap.

I know you need some quality insulation up there Shug. My dad lives near Roseau, and woah is it cold right now in his neck of the woods!
