What's the thought on aero gel? Does its insulation value hold up to the hype? I realize it's still a relatively new product, but does anyone have any experience with it?

shame on me for not searching.
I am working on a possible "in" with a manufacturer who laminates aero gel to fabric in a "drapable" thickness.
i got some pads of it. was basically ground up aerogel inside some kind of fiberglass substrate that held the "magic dust". found it to be twice as warm as same thickness of good ccf, but unfortunately for a given warmth/temp resistence, it was half the thickness of ccf but twice as heavy. would be great for a shoe insole. this was a couple years ago, they may have improved the product, that one was from aspen aerogels
Here's an Aerogel sleeping mat

Doesn't seem to compress very well...34" long and ends up being 6" in diameter when it's rolled.
