    OOOpps!! hole in tarp

Well, seems I cut a small hole in my tarp, looks like I nicked it with my knife while cutting something while inside my tarp setup this past weekend....dang it!! The hole is about an inch long, and a clean cut. I put a piece of gorilla tape on the inside to keep it from spreading, but was thinking maybe some seam seal tape as a better fix. It is low, out close to the edge, so if it leaks it won't get on me. Thoughts??

Thanks guys, now just gotta find some local. Appears that Academy Sports carries it, but for some reason the one here in down didn't pop up on the map....but I can always justify a trip to check it out.... :-)

    Thanks

If you repair it with clear tape, you can tell everyone that it is a skylight that you intentionally designed to be there

Tear Aid is awesome stuff. We carry it in our raft repair kit, and have patched up a leaking raft with it. I patched a hole in a dry bag three years ago, and it's still holding strong.

Just to echo everyone's comments on Tear Aid, it's awesome stuff that sticks to just about anything.

I've used it to patch an inflatable Sevylor canoe a couple of times and it never showed any sign of leaking or peeling away.

If you have some equivalent ripstop- check out the thread about testing the 'no-sew' tarp pullouts.. might be a viable alternative if you cannot fined the mending tape locally.

Well for holes and wear spots I've had really good luck simply by cutting a round piece of sil-nylon or two ... and using silicon from the tube ... apply to the hole and smear around the area ... put the round piece on top and press. A piece of plastic with some weigh on it works good ... actually works with pressing if you smear it in well. Works great patching on one side ... but you can do two if ya want. I usually do just one from underneath ... and if you can get the same color patch as your tarp or close it's about invisible. Patched a quarter inch diameter spark hole that way a year ago and still tight and secure.

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

    +1.

Did this on Spinn and worked well on a hole about 2 inches in diameter and another an inch in diameter.

Still holding strong and no need for specialized equipment, just some extra material and a trip to the hardware store.
