    one snake or two?

No, I'm not talking about skins for the tarp and skins for the hammock, but rather:

One long snake skin instead of two shorter ones.

It came about by sloppy measuring, so now I have one long skin instead of the two I was planning- but it works fine! An advantage is that I don't have the fiddling in the middle where the two skins meet. The ends are not tapered, I just have a long tube.

I had ripstop lying around so that's what I used, it would obviously be lighter in noseeum, etc.

    Pictures soon!

my hammock gear weights total: 2430g (~86oz)
    Winter: total 2521 (~89oz)
(see my profile for detailed weights)

    gram counter, not gram weenie!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the fiddling in the middle either.
I may try this and just taper one end, so I can just pull the whole thing from one end of the hammock to the other.
Thanks for posting, looking fwd to the pictures.

I made mine as a single snake. I made it slightly roomy, so I could add something in there if needed as my options grow. Made it out of Walmart tuline.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.

I started out with 2 and thought the fiddling in the middle was a complete pain, so I made one long one tapered on both ends and it works much better.
